Brenda

It’s in the streets and surroundings of Belém, Amazonia, that Brenda Ohana first became familiar with Afro-Brazilian percussion and melodies. At the age of eleven she decides to start drum set studies by herself and then continues her education at the local conservatory. She plays on drum set with big bands, jazz projects and the main rock and trash metal groups of her city, before she moves to São Paulo to carry on with her studies and later on to Paris.

She performs in many contemporary ensembles, she's enrolled as titular on symphonic orchestras, operas, ballroom orchestras, traditional West-African, Moroccan, Brazilian, Chinese, Cuban and Balkan music ensembles. As a drummer and a vibraphone player she plays in many jazz and free jazz projects with wonderful musicians. Where openness and improvisation are possible is where she wants to be!

Brenda has recorded on vibraphone several albums with her compositions and performed with her group at renown festivals around the world (France, Portugal, Maroc, Burkina Faso, Japan and China).
